Top Selling Cars of India in 2023: With 3.89 million units sold, the Indian automotive market set a new record for sales during the most recent fiscal year. With monthly sales more than nine times higher than the previous year, the industry again reached the 3 million barrier. Surprisingly, Maruti Suzuki topped the list of the top 10 best-selling vehicles for the fiscal year 2023 with seven different models. Tata Motors and Hyundai also made an appearance. This article provides an in-depth overview of the top 10 most cars in terms of sales across all market segments for the fiscal year 2023.
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in FY2023 were 212,340 units.
For another year, the Practical Urban Runabout remained the best-selling vehicle in India. The Wagon R hatchback, which comes with simple amenities and a quick 1.2-liter engine choice, gives superior value for money. The 1.0-liter CNG version helps lower operating expenses, and both engine options (1.0-liter and 1.2-liter) have an AMT variant.
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in FY2023 were 202,901 units.
With a milestone of 200,000 units, the premium hatchback segment leader experienced strong growth of 37% (FY2022: 148,187). Baleno sports a roomy interior, improved safety equipment, modern technology, and an urban-friendly design. Its improved sales have also been facilitated by the release of the new CNG model.
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Alto in FY2023 were 179,698 units.
The compact entry-level hatchback kept up with rivalry with other models, mostly SUVs, growing by 24% (FY2022: 145,167). The Alto has become even more enticing with the arrival of the third-generation Alto K10 in November 2022, which is even available in a CNG option. Please be aware that the discontinued Alto 800 is also included in this number.
176,902 Maruti Suzuki Swifts were sold in FY2023.
Even though the excellent Swift saw a gain of 5.40% (FY2022: 167,827) in FY2023, it had a minor drop in rank, from second to fourth. The third-generation Swift has a stylish exterior, a spotless interior, and a brand-new, 90-horsepower gasoline engine. Swift, however, has factory-installed CNG kits and AMT options.
Sales of Tata Nexon in FY2023 were 172,138 units.
Sales of Nexon’s 69 varieties, including its 47 gasoline, 10 diesel, and 12 electric models with both automatic and manual transmission options, are rising quickly. With a 39% increase in sales (from 124,130 in FY2022), it surpassed all other SUVs in India in FY2023. Since last year, Nexon has remained in fifth place.
150,372 Hyundai Cretas will be sold in FY2023.
The Creta, which offers a wealth of features and a choice of five engine-gearbox combinations, is still the most popular mid-size SUV. To Hyundai Motor India’s best-ever financial sales of 567,546 passenger cars (PVs), it saw rise of 27% (FY2022: 118,092). The N Line variation will also be included in the mid-life redesign of the Creta that is anticipated for next year.
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza in FY2023 were 145,665 units.
79 months after its release, the Brezza sold 800,000 units by September 2022. After Nexon and Creta, it was the third-best-selling SUV in India. Brezza recently unveiled a tiny SUV with CNG and offers a single 1.2-liter engine with both manual and automatic transmission options. It increased by 28% (FY2022: 113,751).
Sales of Tata Punch in FY2023 were 133,819 units.
The second-best-selling vehicle from Tata Motors, behind the Nexon, is still climbing the top 10 PV list. Punch saw a 153% increase in annual growth (FY2022: 52,716). The sub-compact SUV gets a 5-star safety certification from Global NCAP and is probably going to get a CNG version soon.
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Eeco in FY2023 were 131,191 units.
The Eeco has maintained a spot in the top 10 for the past four years because to its usefulness, capacity, and affordability for more than five passengers and their stuff. A 1.2-liter petrol engine with 73 horsepower and a CNG option powers the Eeco. It experienced a 21% increase (FY2022: 108,345).
Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire in FY2023 were 120,948 units.
The presence of Maruti Suzuki is demonstrated by the seventh Maruti Suzuki vehicle in the top 10 PV list. The Dzire is still the most well-liked sedan in India and has a class-leading amount of interior room, features, and organization. Its Swift hatchback counterpart uses the same engine.
